Roderick L. Carey, PhDPostdoctoral Research Fellow


Dr. Roderick L. Carey is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Center for Urban Education. He earned a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the department of Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership at the University of Maryland, College Park, in the Spring of 2015, where he specialized in Minority and Urban Education. His dissertation was an in-depth, qualitative study of the schooling experiences and future ambitions of Black and Latino adolescent boys at one college-oriented urban high school. His current work extends initial findings from his dissertation to explore influence of family, school, and out-of-school time activities on the college and other future ambitions of Black and Latino adolescents in urban contexts.
